On the good advice of my coworker Derrick my family ventured out to Westchase to try Burger 21 on a sunny Tampa afternoon.\u00a0 My first impression upon walking in was that Burger 21 was going for a classy-\u2018Five Guys Burgers.\u2019 \u00a0There is a roped off queue to wait in if the restaurant happens to be that busy.\u00a0 In the queue there are copies of the menu.\u00a0 After my initial perusal I was surprised to find very reasonable prices (burgers started around $5) despite having many colorful samich choices.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When ordering you step up to a fast food style Register, spit your order and take a seat.\u00a0 Before you take your rest while waiting for your grub, they hand you a number that you place into a metal stand so that the servers can steer your eats to the right table. Derrick advised us that we had to try the milkshakes, so the milkshakes we tried.\u00a0 Dan and I split a strawberry milkshake and my parents ordered a chocolate peanut butter shake. I ended up ordering a Shrimp Burger Po\u2019Boy and Dan ordered the Black and Bleu Slider 4 Pack.\u00a0 While biding my time for the food I decided to use the head.\u00a0 Below you can see some pics of their clean bathrooms:<\/p>\n

On the way back I saw that they have a number of dipping sauces you can choose from. I took the Thai Ketchup, the Ragin\u2019 Cajun, and the Chipotle Mayo. (The Ragin\u2019 Cajun and Chipotle Mayo were virtually indistinguishable from each other.\u00a0 I also wished the Thai Ketchup had some more kick to it.)<\/p>\n

When I came back the shakes had arrived. The strawberry shake was delicious.\u00a0 I could probably just eat one of those for a meal.\u00a0 I tried my Mom\u2019s chocolate peanut butter shake and it caused me to reconsider the shake I had chosen.\u00a0 If you like Hershey\u2019s Peanut Butter Cups then you need to give that shake a shot.<\/p>\n

Above you can see my Mom pulling off a good suburban cowboy impression.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think anyone can wear a jean jacket with a red-colored scarf without pulling this comparison.\u00a0 Any cigarette smokers out there?\u00a0 If so, you should snap a picture wearing a jean jacket and a red scarf, smoking a cigarette (if you have a cowboy hat that would be great) and I will post it on the site.<\/p>\n

My Dad ordered the above burger.\u00a0 I don\u2019t have any insight into how it tasted but it looked quite edible.<\/p>\n

Dan and I split the Po\u2019Boy and the Sliders.\u00a0 Anyone familiar with Fish Sticks should find the Shrimp Po\u2019Boy in good standing, although it is far more refined in its execution.\u00a0 The saut\u00e9ed veggies and the sauce complimented the Po\u2019Boy very well.\u00a0 One thing to note, this really isn\u2019t a Po\u2019Boy. A traditional Po\u2019Boy (http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Po’_boy) comes in a sub\/hoagie bun and is usually loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, a pickle, and fried fish or shrimp. I\u2019ve never really seen Po\u2019Boys offered in Michigan restaurants which is frankly a shame.\u00a0 Despite the Shrimp Po\u2019Boy not really being a Po\u2019Boy, it was still delicious.<\/p>\n

\u00a0The Black and Bleu sliders really stood out to me.\u00a0 They did a great job of getting the salt worked well into the burgers, but the they used a Bleu Cheese dressing and not actual crumbled Bleu Cheese. I would gladly order these again.\u00a0 Dan ordered a side of fries which, to use my mother\u2019s words, \u2018were very fresh.\u2019\u00a0 These were virtually shoe-string fries and they were well made.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Burger 21 had a solid atmosphere and served up some good food.\u00a0 Considering I ate the food in great company the experience earned a [rating:4] .\u00a0<\/p>\n
